Self-Care Detoxification & Your Immune System
March 22, 2021
Detoxification support is something you want to enhance for general cleansing after any immune challenge. The lymphatic system, gut, liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin are sites of detoxification and toxin management. Toxins that you inhale, ingest, or absorb through the skin must be detoxified and excreted through stool, urine, sweat, or breath. Here are some things to consider.
Lymph waste is deposited into the circulatory system via the thoracic duct. This duct lies in front of your back bone, behind the heart and lungs between your shoulder blades. Good posture, not slumped or hunched over, massage, chiropractic care, and physical activity help move lymph fluid. Arabinogalactan helps support the actions of natural killer cells and macrophages while enzymes like bromelain and papain break up debris and help with trash removal. Help nourish these cells so they can do their job and keep the lymph plumbing system unclogged.
Sinus congestion, mucous in the throat, fingers feeling swollen, sock lines, and sometimes stiffness between the shoulder blades often reflect fluid stagnation and lymph congestion. Dark circles under the eyes, or puffy eyes, fatigue, and feeling generally stiff may also occur.
Make sure you consume at least 25-30 grams of fiber per day. Many Americans get less than half of this in their diet. Daily bowel movements 1-3 times per day that are well-formed are a good sign. If you have pellets, strain with passage, stinky, undigested food particles, or loose stools, or have less than daily bowel movements, you need to work on your gut health. Additional support like d-Limonene may also be helpful.
For those who want additional support to manage xenoestrogen and the chemical soup that we live in, add in I3C + DIM. The compounds extracted from broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, Brussel’s sprouts, and other cruciferous vegetables provide support like no other vegetables can. If you don’t regularly consume these vegetables, you’re missing a major tool in dietary self-care.
Support your body before and after any immune challenge, including an illness or vaccine. We now encounter more toxins than ever before. If your detoxification plumbing systems are clogged and sluggish, it is harder to manage any challenge and retain vitality.

1. General Overall Support: Glutathione
Glutathione is the master antioxidant at the most fundamental core of liver detoxification, immune system function, and cell protection. When you have low levels of this crucial compound, the normal patterns of detoxification within the liver and all your cells becomes stressed. The toxic effects of pesticides, petroleum products, medications, immune challenges, etc. place a high stress response and burden on your body when your antioxidant nutrient status of glutathione is inadequate to meet the challenges. Glutathione is the backbone of your body’s immune and detoxification systems, but is needed by every cell of your body. It is critical.2. Lymphatic and Circulatory Support: Immune Plus and Repair Plus
Support your lymphatic system in clearance of waste products. Your lymphatic system affects fluid management of cell and immune waste of your whole body. Natural killer cells and macrophages work hard at helping clean things up and dump immune waste into lymphatic and blood circulatory systems. Lymph nodes provide filtration services and when clogged from immune debris, they become swollen.Lymph waste is deposited into the circulatory system via the thoracic duct.
3. Gut Support: Fiber Helper and Super Dophilus
Most toxins enter into the digestive tract. Gut motility, or peristalsis, the microbiome, bile acids, stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, and fiber are all involved with how your digestive tract breaks down, transports, and manages toxins. Sluggish bowels, or overactive rumbling in the bowels, reflect a distressed digestive tract. This ultimately adds more stress to toxin management. If your gut is not happy, more toxins will be delivered to the liver and eventually to other parts of your plumbing systems – kidneys, circulatory system, lymph, and skin.Make sure you consume at least 25-30 grams of fiber per day.
4. Liver and Kidney Support: Daily Detoxify
Your liver and kidneys work 24/7 at detoxification. Every single thing that you come in contact with must be broken down, metabolized, and then excreted. Add Daily Detoxify with Glutathione for more comprehensive support. Daily Detoxify also features chlorella, r-alpha lipoic acid, dandelion root, N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), glycine, and taurine which help to protect liver and kidney function. It makes a great addition for in-depth support!
Self Care Tools
In addition to these supplements, practice other healthy self-care tools. Remember that toxins are also excreted through sweating. Physical activity, and especially infrared saunas that make you perspire, are excellent tools. Make sure you daily choose quality organic, grass-fed animal proteins, richly-colored fruits and vegetables, particularly cooked cruciferous veggies, along with legumes and complex, unrefined grains. Drink at least 64 ounces or more of filtered water per day to help flush toxins out. Aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep at night.Support your body before and after any immune challenge, including an illness or vaccine. We now encounter more toxins than ever before. If your detoxification plumbing systems are clogged and sluggish, it is harder to manage any challenge and retain vitality.
